Dr. Lauren (Metzel) Lewis grew up in Dallas, Texas, where she graduated from Bishop Lynch High School and attended the University of Texas at Dallas on a full academic scholarship. There, she studied neuroscience and business administration but ultimately fell in love with dentistry! In college, she enjoyed doing research in neuroscience labs, volunteering with dental clinics in Peru and the Dominican Republic and serving as a leader within the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Dr. Lewis attended the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There, she was elected vice president of her class and enjoyed doing research in the Department of Orthodontics, as well as volunteering with local children, veterans and the homeless. She graduated with academic distinction in the top 10 of her class.

After dental school, Dr. Lewis completed an advanced education in general dentistry residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In this rigorous program, she trained with medically and dentally complex patients, focusing on digital dentistry, IV sedation, oral surgery with bone grafting, implant dentistry, microscopic root canal therapy, periodontal surgery, aesthetic dentistry and full-mouth rehabilitation.

Following residency, Dr. Lewis moved to Austin with her husband, Luke, who is an ER physician. Together, they have been looking forward to kayaking at Lady Bird Lake, exploring local eateries and taking in all of the live music this city has to offer. While away from her work, you might spot Dr. Lewis at F45 and Barry’s Bootcamp classes or reading her latest book club selection at Zilker park! Dr. Lewis is excited to join Barton Oaks Dental Group as an associate dentist. Her goal is to treat her patients as if they were her own family.
